What this scientific calculator supports
The tool applies one selected operation to the number you enter: square root, sine, cosine, tangent, natural logarithm, base-10 logarithm or square.
Angle convention
The trigonometric options interpret the input as degrees. JavaScript's trigonometric functions work internally in radians, so the calculator converts degrees to radians before evaluating sine, cosine or tangent.
Domain limits
- Square root is not a real-number result for a negative input.
- Natural log and log10 require a positive input for a real-number result.
- Tangent grows extremely large near angles where cosine approaches zero, so finite computer precision can produce very large values rather than an abstract infinity.
Precision
Results use standard browser floating-point arithmetic. That is appropriate for most everyday and educational calculations, but specialist scientific or engineering work may require controlled significant figures, arbitrary precision or domain-specific software.
